Huge thanks to everyone who has supported our fundraiser for Pieta House, we are delighted to say that currently we have a total of €12,331 which will be presented to Pieta House in the next week. Thanks so much to everyone who supported us and to all the players and stand ins who enthusiastically did their bit for the fundraiser. Padraig Burke one of our minor hurlers won the jerseys so well done Padraig. Membership is still available – contact the GAA phone or a committee member. We hope ye are all staying healthy and well during the current restrictions.

May 21st

At a time when we have no sport, and very limited movement from our own area, the activity of the club over the weekend has been inspiring and uplifting for the club. We carried out a 48 hour runathon for Pieta House organised by the senior players and carried out by the players from the senior, Junior B, U21 and minor teams with a bit of help from management and officers and exiles oversea’s bringing an international feel to the event.  Huge thanks is due to joint captains Paudie Leahy and Kevin Palmer and Niall Moloney.  It was a fantastic achievement and the enthusiasm and commitment from all the players was inspiring. I only hope we have some hurling so that the teamwork, loyalty and fitness of our players can be used to the max.

Most importantly we have raised €11,401 on Sunday night the 17th for Pieta House and we are very proud to have raised this.  It could not have been done however without the financial support of the public and we are overwhelmed and delighted with the money raised, there is still time to increase the final tally. Our goal was raised twice during the 48hrs and we have made more than double our original expectations. Well done and huge thanks to everyone who donated.

Hopefully the world will be a safer place with the funding of Pieta house.

As we ease back on restrictions in the covid 19 battle I would ask everyone to move cautiously and stay safe.  We will have to learn to live with this virus and we need to stay away from risk until a cure and vaccine is secured.

Message from the Senior players

We have now completed our 48hr run for Pieta house, Kevin, Paudie & myself (Niall) finished the last slot at 7.30am, as it stands we have raised €10,060 which is unbelievably generous and a lot more than we expected, we would like to extend our thanks to everyone who filled the 96 running slots, to everyone who has shared liked and commented on posts & links throughout the week but mostly to the people who have continued their very generous support by donating. Also we would like to thank Carmel for running the Blackrock page and kept us updated throughout the weekend.

To Jimmy and the management of Blackrock Senior team who started all this and came up with this great idea.

The donation page will be kept open until next Friday so if you havn’t already donated there is still plenty time.

This weekend our hurlers will do a 48hour marathon for Pieta house.  From 7am on Friday to 7am on Sunday they will run or walk in 30 minute slots, to collect much needed funding for Pieta house who have helped so many people with their mental health concerns.

The players will do 30 minute slots on the walking track or at home for a continuous 48hr.  Please go onto the Pieta House link on Blackrocks facebook page to give what you can for this worthy cause.
